HI, Marc,

Thanks for making this point - I certainly do not disagree with you. You make a solid case for working with distributors/resellers/brokers.

I'm certainly biased but in my experience, print buyers who keep one or more Print Distributors ("brokers" if you must) in their mix of suppliers get access to far more cutting-edge products, services and ideas than those who get all or most of their information from a handful of trusted, direct-selling suppliers. The biggest problem I’ve seen is the limited field of view of buyers who aren’t open to communicating with potential new suppliers because they’re “happy with their current supplier”.

Because of this, these buyers are only shown the “hot new products” that their current suppliers can offer from their own shops. In the process, buyers miss out on a whole world of innovative products and services that the Distributor channel can bring them in an instant. As an example, your local print shop or direct-selling supplier won’t talk to you about the Conformer Expansion Envelope, integrated products like labels and magnets, Instant Redeemable Coupons, Pressure Seal mailers or a bunch of other products that are readily available to solve the challenges buyers face.

Local print shops are valuable, even to me but I don’t rely on them to keep me current or relevant in the ever-expansive print universe. I'm a proud member of PSDA and know that my peers are doing great work showing buyers innovative products on a regular basis. I’d encourage buyers to seek out a professional print distributor partner (or two) and experience the difference this channel can make in their personal and corporate success.

Yes, but if I have a legacy "DS" color number, how do I find its closest match in the new "P" series? Am I left with having to do a visual comparison only? Or is there an index that would help me cut to the chase? I'm appalled at the lack of a connection between the old and new colors.

Mike is such a wonderful, informed vendor. It's nice to see him get some well-deserved recognition. He has an amazing print background and is so knowledgeable in the industry - it's just a pleasure to deal with him.
